Announcement of Director Cheung Sing Yim as the recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award.
The 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 13th April (Sunday).
Nominees of the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Director and Best New Performer had been busy with the photo shooting for the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony Special, which was finished last month. A press conference was held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 1st April to preview the photos in the Special. The event was graced with Miss Cherry Ngan, nominee of the Best Actress, Miss Kara Wai Ying Hung, nominee of the Best Supporting Actress, Mr Zhang Jin and Mr Antony “Friend” Chan, nominees of the Best Supporting Actor and Miss Fish Liew and Mr Babyjohn Choi, nominees of the Best New Performer.
It was also announced at the conference that Mr Dorian Ho, one of the most famous local fashion designers, will be the fashion jury of the evening’s walk of fame. He shall hand-pick one glamorous male and female star for the Best Dressed Award and the winners will each receive jewelleries presented by Piaget.
It was also announced at the press conference that Director Cheung Sing Yim is the recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award this year. Director Cheung Sing Yim’s film “The Jade Bow” in 1966 was one of the first coloured kung fu films in Hong Kong. The way Director Cheung used wire for action shooting was innovative and surprised the audience a lot in the 60’s. In 1982, Cheung directed “The Shaolin Temple” and starred martial arts athletes. The film was a big debut that had made Mr Jet Li and Shaolin Temple become famous worldwide. As Cheung’s films were a great influence of the production of local kung fu films, Cheung was entirely worthy as the recipient of this Award.
